Article 26 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to education. Education is not only a basic right, like food and shelter, but it is a gateway for human development to expand knowledge and awareness. CSS believes that this increased education opens doors to personal empowerment and economic opportunities that contribute to fostering peace, democracy, improving healthcare and community prosperity. However, CSS believes that sustainable development of these educational goals is not possible without an educated community. Formal education is the process by which society deliberately passes on its gathered knowledge, skills, and values from one generation to another through structured methodology. From 1981, CSS has been working on education initiatives. Since then CSS has supported government programs to expose poor communities to formalized education.

Since Bangladesh’s independence, the education system has been gradually improving. The government of Bangladesh has been establishing educational institutions as well as permitting and funding other private educational institutions across the country. To stay current with the standards of developed countries, the national curriculum of Bangladesh is continually updated. GO and NGOs of Bangladesh are relentlessly working to achieve the objective of international education declarations including Education for All (EFA), the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), and other international declarations.  Vocational and business oriented education courses have also been added in the national curriculum.

As a development partner of the state, CSS is currently working to accelerate government education initiatives by implementing several formal, non-formal and technical planned and dedicated projects, including: Home of Blessings, Community Based Education Support Program, Leadership Training Program, Hope Technical Institute, Hope Polytechnic Institute, Jobs and Business Service, Reverend Paul's High School and Hope Non-formal Pre-primary School.
